Has anyone else notcied this - random but desirable feature?

Usually when switching out of standby one has to wait for the software loader etc to happen - aftyer a time the broadcast channel appears.
On three occasions now, and I cannot work out why, my box has come of out standby instantly with no loader message and immediately goes to a channel. And no I am not recording anything at the time - the box is completely idle.

The desireable feature then disappears after an hour or so!

Hmmmm!

Any thoughts

Mine does this sometimes, the EPG stays there etc. Except mine doesn't stop doing it so I usually switch it off after a while because even though it's convenient, I can still hear something spinning and don't like the idea that it's doing something when it's not surposed to be.

Anyone know if it doing this is bad or just harmless?

An undesirable side effect when this happens (at least on my box) is that the output remains 4:3 - it does not switch automatically to 16:9, so I always switch off at the back and restart.

Its a bug. The machine behaves like its recording. So just as if it was recording you comeout of standby fast with a populated EPG, and PIP is not available. A reset from the back will stop this behaviour however I have no idea what ill effects the machine being in the cycle has.

Mine does this too a fair amount - usually noticed when I've left it on for a long period of time with no standby.

Downside I've noticed - you can't do Picture in Picture. (not that I use it)

Geoff you will find that the reason your machine does this is that it hasn't shut down correctly. You will find that the hard drive is still running even though the display has reverted to the time.
