After being away from home for a month I've finally got round to authoring my first dvd. I've successfully made 1 disc, which only plays in 4:3 and shows part of the main frame if I play in widescreen on my widescreen TV which is a bit annoying but I can live with that, unless anyone has any pearls to offer...

The main question is the audio. It plays fine through the TV, but not at all through my amplifier. After running a test with dvd shrink, I see that the audio type comes out as 'MPEG-1 2-ch Unspecified'. I presumed that I wouldn't get 5.1 sound, but would be nice to have good stereo sound quality with the disc.

Here's what I did:

Use project x to make rough cuts then pressed quickstart. Authored the dvd using dvdauthorgui with the m2v file and the largest audio file. created an iso with dvd shrink from the resulting dvd files (although I now realise I could have done that with dvdauthorgui) and burnt using dvd decrypter in a through run from dvd shrink.

Anyway, I just looked in the settings for project x and found an audio tab in pre settings which i've just changed from no conversion to option 1 (single to 3D stereo, L+R+ original). will that do it, or perhaps one of the other settings?
