I am unable to tune into Film four on channel 32 either automatically or manual despite this channel being advertised as a freeview channel in the TV mags. Does anyone else have this problem or can tell me how to get this channel on the hummy.

Tell us your post code so that we can advise on the appropriate channel for manual tuning.

That would indicate that you are missing one whole mux I think that is what Xenon was geting at with his question and Martin's post asking for postcode will enable someone to check program availabilty in your area or get info for manual tuning.

Yeah - Sorry, should have explained myself! Have to now work out why you aren't receiving Mux D.

I had the same issue on Blackhill transmitter, serving Central Scotland. Mux D here is outside group B, as used by the analogue channels, so a wideband aerial upgrade was required. Mux C is also (just) outside. After changeover, it's planned for all 6 multiplexes to be back in Group B, for those prepared to wait.

My immediate thought was that the problem was due to Mux D being out of band for the type of aerial installed. We'll see......

Mux D is on channel 57. I am not an expert on aerials but this is out of the frequency range of the analogue stations in your region. How old is the aerial?

The aerial is at least 20 years old but the picture quality on the freeview is very good. The quality on the terrestrial stations vary.

I thik you should get advice from a local aerial installer.

You may not be able to receive all channels even with a Wideband aerial. Are you receiving from Wrekin A or Wrekin B transmitter? If it's B then it doesn't transmit Muxes C and D, If it's A then you'll need a Wideband aerial to receive all channels.
There is a chance you get both transmitters anyway, but after Digital Switch Over, Wrekin B won't exist and you'll need a Wideband aerial to receive all 6 muxes - otherwise you'll only get 3 muxes, PSB1-3 (Public Service Broadcast 1-3 i.e. BBC, ITV, C4).

.. and probably Five cos that is scheduled to move to PSB1-3 at "switch over".

P.S. I'd recommend http://www.ukfree.tv/txlist.php site to look up frequencies, dates and more, but it can be frustrating finding the page that gives you the details you need; it is very packed.
P.S. Just realised this is on a "software chat" thread - very strange.

Good point - now moved to a more relevant sub-forum
