Hi all, I haven't had my 9200 Hummy long, but have played with a mate's 9200 before I bought mine, and I've had quite a lot of experience playing with software PVRs on the PC.
I know most of these suggestions/gripes/niggles are mentioned elsewhere on this forum, but, for what it's worth, here's MY wishlist for the 9200 (at the moment!);-
1. Auto padding the recording times (I gather from reading posts here that this is coming.)
2. A weekday timer as well as 'Once', 'Daily, and 'Weekly' options.
3. The option to record an entire series by name. (I have this on my GB-PVR software on the PC and it's so useful! The lack of this feature is, so far, the biggest gripe I have with my 9200.)
4. Failing the previously suggested feature (or better yet, just as a stop-gap measure http://www.hummy.org.uk/invison/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif), more than just 20 timer slots!
5. Start watching a program from the beginning while it's still being recorded.
6. Speed up the transfer over USB! (USB2? My A***! http://www.hummy.org.uk/invison/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif)
7. Having a 'Cancel' or 'Exit' button as the default button on the 'HDD Control' menu, NOT the 'Format' button. (I hope there's AT LEAST one confirmation required before it actually does format the hard drive, but I'd still prefer it not to be the default action.)
8. Some way of turning off the 'Recording by reservation..." message when a recording starts. It's VERY annoying if you're recording a previously saved program onto a DVD at the time! (If you can already do this, someone, please let me know!)
9. It would also be useful to have the resolution of a saved recording (and maybe whether it's flagged as widescreen) come up on it's 'Information' screen from the 'Recorded Programme' menu. (If it's something I want to keep and it's a DVD standard resolution - e.g. 720x576 for PAL - then I'd probably transfer it to the PC and author there. But if it's a non-standard resolution - e.g. 544x576 [ITV2/ITV3/etc.] - that's going to need hours of processing to get it to a standard DVD resolution, then it's easier to record onto my DVD recorder and pop the recorded disk into the PC and then author it. At the moment, I either have to transfer the whole file to the PC before I can check whether I want to transfer the file to the PC(?)! Or use the Hauppauge USB2 Freeview tuner attached to the PC to record a little chunk of the program and check that file's properties to decide what to do.)
10. On the Programme Guide screen(s) to have the day of the week that's relevant for the bit of the guide you're looking at shown as well as the date. e.g. 'Sat 25/03' instead of just '25/03'. ("25th? What's today's date? Is the 25th Sunday? Oh S** it! I'll go back to 'Now' and start again . . . !")
11. A better designed remote. Surely the list of Recorded Programmes, Ad skip buttons, TV/Radio button and 'add bookmark' buttons should be just under the Record/playback group of buttons, shouldn't they?
12. Obviously better E-Linker software! http://www.hummy.org.uk/invison/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif But even just having the correct file extensions added to files as they're transferred from the Hummy would be a start. (e.g. '.mpg' for video files and '.m2a' for recorded radio files.)
I know it's quite a long list, but I don't want anyone to think that I'm not delighted with my 9200t. These are all fairly minor niggles (apart from the disgraceful USB transfer speed!!!) but implementing them would, IMHO http://www.hummy.org.uk/invison/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif, elevate the 9200t from being just a 'Great piece of kit' to a 'Smegging Superb piece of Kit'
