What do I need to do to demux and convert radio recordings to MP3? Can anyone recommend good (& pref free) software for this?

But IIRC all I did was change the name to .mp3 and they played.

You could try BeSweet GUI, it seems to convert most audio formats to most other audio formats. You'll probably find a link for it and 'How To' guides for it over at www.videohelp.com.

Just played a recording; transfered it over, changed the file extension to .wav and played it using VLC media player.
