I have fitted a Philips VL 1200 sender so I can watch my PVR-9200T in the bedroom. Picture and sound transmission is fine, but I can't get the Hummy to respond to remote control signals in the other direction. (I know the Philips kit works because I installed it for my mother in law. However, she found it too complicated).
I have confirmed that the remote signals are being received at the Philips box at the Hummy end (it winks at me!). The problem seems to come down to my failure to get the IR window of this box located "just so" with respect to the PVR-9200T's remote detector. Try as I might, I can't locate this detector, though, even using the extension lead Philips provide (it has little IR sensors on it to dangle fetchingly in front of the PVR or whatever). The Humax manual is no help, and trial and error hasn't worked. (When I use the Hummy's remote control conventionally, it seems to work pretty well wherever I point it). So where is the detector 'eye'?
Or perhaps there isn't one, and the technology is something else altogether - in which case, the IR-based Philips is never going to work. If that's the case, can anyone suggest an alternative "sender" solution cheaper than buying a second Hummy?
