View Full Version : Is There Any Way To Include Photos In Postings

As a beginner on this forum I wonder if it's possible to include photos in postings. Initially what I have in mind is to photograph the screeen output from The Humax and Topfield pvrs, as members have asked as to picture quality. Inevitably this will always be a bit subjective, given a decent photograph they will be able to judge for themselves. Additionally a decent diagram will always be a lot clearer than written words in many situations. Is the attachment facility designed for this and if so how do pictures appear in the posting ?

You mean like this?

Have a look at the buttons above the text box when you make a post. Note that the actual image needs to be hosted elsewhere. If you do not have your own web space to do this there are lots of sites which let you do it for nowt such as ImageShack.

Well I didn't realise you could so I've just tried for myself.
The result should be below:

Make sure your file is much smaller than the 500K allocated member space.
Locate it using the Browse button in the message attachments area.
Select Upload.
Choose it from the Manage Current Attachments list.
Job done (hopefully).
It's thumbnailed in the thread view, but clicking it opens in a new window full size.

BTW that's only a part of my lounge setup (!)

Also thanks. Does anyone know if the image is hosted elsewhere if the 500K limit applies

And here is the back of my TV (does not include the cabling for the neighbouring A/V and hi-fi stacks):-

Using a link to an image hosted on an external site will not be subject to the same restrictions as one upload directly to here as the load is not then on this web site but on the external site. If you use your own free web site and it gets a *lot* of hits on a big image file then your ISP/hoster may start to get twitchy. I expect the volume of hits from here to be well under the radar though. Your hoster's T&C should give pointers as to how much traffic is seen as reasonable before you are encouraged to move to paid for hosting.

wow spaghetti or what. The back of my tv has only 3 wires aerial rf in, hdmi in and audio out. The rest is 7M away and I don't use the tv sound at all. I can use the tv internal freeview tuner and route the sound out to my aV amp but having 4 other tuners (Toppy PVR and Hummy PVR) never do

"Right click, Save as" will show the picture name.

Brill. Thought it was wrong until I realised you have to click on the thumbnail to open the original and sure enough there's the file name. What's next a gallery of members set ups. (spaghetti and all)
