Hi, we've just moved from Brighton to Leeds. Our humax worked perfectly in Brighton but it won't find any channels right in the centre of Leeds, where the signal must be strong. I've reset it to the factory settings before trying to tune automatically and even bought an indoor aerial with signal booster, to no avail. Not one channel is found. I'd really appreciate is someone could point me in the right direction, hopefully not towards a shop to buy a new unit!

Why do you think that the signal strength in the middle of Leeds should be good. Freeview is transmitted at very low powers and to recieve it on an indoor aerial you have to virtually on top of the transmitter. Leeds freeview service is from Emley Moor which is just slightly West of South from Leeds (Emley Moor is the masive concrete mast you can see from the M1 close to Huddersfield). In fact Leeds is quite close to the edge of the Freeview service area for Emley Moor. To get any chance of getting anything you would need to be by a window on the south side of a building not hemmed in by other buildings. Doubt very much if there is anything wrong with the Humax

Hi and thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I assumed the signal strength wasn't a problem because freeview.co.uk says that my postcode is covered and that I should get all the channels. Interestingly enough, I live in a converted attic on an open square, so no building should be interfering. Any more ideas?

The post code search predictor assumes you will be using a reasonably high gain external aerial. You will need a group B aerial fitted externally, fortunately it sounds as if height won't be a problem, so if you can mount it on any south facing wall (transmiiter is roughly SSW) you should get a reasonable signal. A good clue is to look at your neighbours aerials if they are flat and pointing roughly South then they are picking up Emley Moor.
