Just seen this alternative to eLinker...
http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/humax/Huma...aController.htm (http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/humax/HumaxMediaController.htm)
I haven't tried it yet but it looks good.
Anyone tried it?

Tnanks for that. I havent tried it yet - its still very much a work in progress but it seems to be a big step in the right direction.
I'm going to update the FAQ later to include this and another alternative to using elinker.

I tried it last night.
It works .... no hassle. It just works ... I am in shock.
I downloaded 2 radio recordings and a full feature film while the Humax was recording one program and replaying another.
I did make sure that the PC was doing nothing else, I have added a number of "net stop xxx" commands to the batch file to stop various services that might get in the way. Virus checker etc.
I don't know if the guy who wrote it reads this but thank you very much it is an excellent piece of work.

Hi lercio,
Yes I do read this forum from time to time as well as the Digital Spy one.
Glad to hear the software works for you.
Latest version is V1.02 which includes a few minor bug fixes and is available from the usual link at:
http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/humax/Huma...aController.htm (http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/humax/HumaxMediaController.htm)
If you find any bugs in the software you can report them here or on the DS forum.
Regards,
Andy.

Wow! Just come back to the forum for a quick look and noticed this, can't wait to try it out. Top marks to Andy Chappell for this creation, particularly since it looks like he's happy to share it for developments.
Would be interested to hear about any moves to get this running on Linux, since that was the show-stopper for me when considering Linux platform for my TV/Media PC. Also, I would expect Linux would be better at keeping a connection to the box than windows interfering all the time. Looking at the threads there is a Linux version on its way...perhaps I will brave it one day then, when I feel like facing tarballs and all that.
Wouldn't it be fantastic if Humax had access to EGP and recording timers though USB too, what a powerful system that would make (remote control pc via mobile gprs and set recordings from anywhere).
All sounds very promising, would be great to mod for automated transfer and compile to DVD. Might be handy to auto convert to MP4 and transfer to a mobile device. Or how about monitoring the dates of recordings and auto transfer any which are over a set date, particularly if you check the available free space of the humax.

Hi Tim,
There's a GUI version over on the Digital Spy forum which is in Beta version at the moment. It works on Windows at present and there are moves to get it working on Linux and MAC OSX so worth checking out. The GUI version is based on the basic 'console' version that I wrote.
On the EPG timers via USB idea - I have suggested that one to Humax as a useful feature. Whether they take up the idea is another matter. I agree that being able to download recording schedules from a PC (say from DigiGuide) or being able to schedule a recording from my mobile phone while away from home would be very useful! Fortunately I have the skills to implement all of that - it's really just down to Humax and whether they find the time to implement the USB interface on the PVR.
Regards,
Andy.
