Good news this morning when I switched on the Humax 9300T....a message saying update successfully downloaded...
Thanks to Barry and the many other Humax Owners....I hope this Freezing Up problem has at last been resolved by Humax...Otherwise the Queen's Award for might have to be returned...This is a good product and I would hope that the image is not tarnished by further freezing problems..
Hope everyone had a successfull download...It was worth waiting for...remember to do a complete Default Setting Search again..
Happy viewing

When I do an automatic search it states "New Software Not Found" MUXB is no longer broadcasting from Winter Hill since last Wednesday, is this the problem?
What channel is it on so I can do a manual search?

Hi.
My 9300t is set to auto update (and has been since I bought it) but it's still showing V15, not the latest 18. I always put it in standby well before 4am.
How come I'm not updated? I'm in East Devon - has it perhaps not been transmitted here yet?
Cheers.

It was transmitted on Mux B
Devon completed DSO, so no Mux B is transmitted in this region.
Either you will have to update via PC, or wait for OTA on the normal engineering channel.

How do I perform the update Guys?
If I do an auto it finds nothing.... If I do a manual it wants frequency etc?
I am on Winter Hill if anyone can help ?

I am on Winter Hill if anyone can help ?You won't find it on WH until the DTG can arrange an update on the Engineering Channel. The update is alternating with the 9150 update on MuxB, which is not carried on post-DSO transmitters.
Otherwise, you can download it from the Humax website and update it with a Null Modem Serial Cable, plus a USB to Serial Converter cable if your PC does not have a Serial Port.

Thanks for clarifying about Mux B.
homerj - you won't be able to get the update until it is listed on the following web page:

Hi.
savvy249 will correct me if I'm wrong but no, you can download the software from the Humax site, rather than waiting for it to be broadcast, if you want to load it via the RS232.
Go here:
http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/
hover over Support and select Download Centre. Select as appropriate in the three dropdowns and then click on the Software (the .hdf file) to download it to your PC. Then transfer it to the Humax. I've never done that last bit but I think the above site tells you how to do that.
Cheers.

You need a Null modem cable (crossover)

You download the software update from the Humax web site (the refernced web site is for notification of OTA updates). You need a null modem cable (pins 2 and 3 crossed). My software and instructions for doing this can be found at http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/flash9200.html

Surely we should not have to resort to purchasing specialist cables to sort this problem.
Humax sent me the following message on 27th November;
Dear Sir,
We are investigating into what is causing the screen to appear, this will stop happening as soon as we correct the cause, Im sorry for the inconvenience caused,
Many Thanks,

Since then, nothing!
Come on Humax. Now you have sorted the Foxsat HD fiasco, make everyone happy for Christmas.

You don't need to purchase specialist cables if you wait for an OTA, but if impatient can use the method that requires the cable.

A null modem cable is hardly specialist. Surely most homes have one kicking around these days? Mine is at least 20 years old. :D

This is a domestic electrical device. (Like a TV.. Duh.)
The majority of domestic purchasers, neither want, nor are able to download files, or buy specialist modem cables to rectify an anomaly, caused by the Manufacturer.
Will Humax offer compensation, if a "fix" carried out by an amateur, damages the unit, or his computer? I doubt it.
It is the resposibility of the Manufacturer to rectify his anomaly, NOT to abdicate his responsibility to the untrained, and the sooner he gets off his a*** , the sooner this company will get back on the road to credibility.

I have just updated the software on my pvr9300 to v18 by downloading form Humax website and using Martin's nifty bit of software as the tool on the Humax website won't dowload?
Anyway all seemed to go ok but now the volume and mute do not operate from the hummy remote? Hav'nt found any other problems and it has not frozen since I did the update which was the reason for updating it.
Any ideas anyone
PS using a scart lead not hdmi
Cheers

I will check on that Les?
I have a scart going to the dvd and one going to the tv. I may have swapped them over when I replaced it after the update?

i saw somewhere on here that the 9300t ota update was due on 5th jan but dtg site doesnt list it.
i bought machine for 80 year old and it keeps locking up on her, old 8000 humax is working though!
could someone confirm if an update is going out again as not practical to lug pc over to fix it..

Welcome to the Forum:)
I have not heard of an OTA planned for tomorrow.......the update has been OTA via Mux B on and off.
Of course you could 'lug' the 9300 to the PC:)
Will attempt to find out what is planned re OTA on the normal engineering channel.

My mother-in-law isn't 80, but we bought her one for Xmas and it too keeps locking up. I don't have a null modem serial cable, and waiting for an as-yet unscheduled ota update is not much use. She has gone from a £20 working freeview box and dodgy VHS tape recorder to a shiny new box which doesn't work as well (as far as she is concerned).
I have ordered a cable (£1.98 from amazon) but it really isn't good enough that there is no schedule for the ota update. Come on Humax, at least publish your intention to retransmit!
I hope Humax make their next machine updateable via ethernet or usb (from a memory stick) as that would be a much more sensible method these days.

SmotiseThe Foxsat HDR is.
Humax can't know the schedule, that is down to the availability of "slots" on the update channel.

Even allowing that the Forum members have a loyalty to the brand, I simply cannot believe what an easy ride Humax are getting for the various faults and lack of information.
