Hi

Waiting on delivery of my 9200,which should be with me any minute now! I have a few questions regarding the operation of the box that I hope someone will be kind enough to answer.

1) When you have programs scheduled to be recorded, can you leave the machine in standby and it will still record? I recently had a Digifusion FVRT200 which would record while in either mode. It was actually a shame about the niggly bad points of this box as it was actually really good, especially the picture quality.

2) How high would you rate the picture quality of the 9200? I also recently had a Topfield 5800 and to be honest the picture was nowhere near as good as the Digifusion.

3) How good is the overall design and look of the menus, OSD and EPG? On the Digifusion they were a bit bright but overall very good. I honestly don't have a good word to say about any area of the Topfield, it was truly dreadful. The menus and OSD reminded me of my old ONdigital box only not as nice! I mean, who really wants a box that can play Doom? (oh, alert the press!!). And as for TAPS, it's just an excuse for the makers to be lazy and let the owners come up with solutions to basic problems which shouldn't have been there in the first place. I'm getting wound up now! Deep breath.....

4) Is the output from the built-in modulator any good? On the Topfield it was not useable at all. Probably due to the daft way the aerial is looped to both receivers and then onto the modulator.

Anyway, that's enough to be getting on with. Any info you can provide on the above would be great.

Cheers

Peter

p.s. I HATE the Topfield 5800 by the way.

Got our Hummy a few weeks ago, so hope I can answer:

1. Works fine for me, although others have complained that when you set to record at 7.30 from standby, the machine actually switches on at 7.30, and takes 20 seconds to boot, so doesn't start recording until 7:30.20secs. There is a problem recording radio programmes from standby, but why on earth would anyone record radio programs anyway ?? Beats me !

2. Seems perfect to me, I think a few people have very cheap (bundled) scart leads and complain of crosstalk, but this is hardly the PVRs fault !

3. Again, all fine, its my first PVR so I'm happy with it, a couple of silly niggles (can't delete in playlist view, you have to go through menu->record->recorded programmes), but works well enough.

4. Works fine for me, I have it feeding TV upstairs, and an IR sender back, so I can control from bedroom and picture is fine.

1 I do find the first few seconds are missing as it comes out of standby, it needs auto or manual padding.

2 Picture quality is excellent, better than the dgifusion!

3 EPG and control is poorly laid out and slow to load after standby(about ten Minutes)

4 Modulator op is fine, you wouldn't know the pvr was in line!
