Thumbs down Recording schedule deleted

I have the latest software version 23, and all seemed OK, I was scrolling through channels last night and 'Dave Ja Vu' came on screen saying I needed to rescan to continue to watch 'Dave Ja Vu', so I went and did an 'automatic search' to update the channels, all seemed OK, Dave Ja Vu was now watchable so I carried on with my viewing. About 8.30 I realised the little 'REC' icon was not displayed on the actually digibox even though it should have been recording Warehouse 13 on Virgin1, it was not as when I checked my schedule all my set recordings had been deleted!!!!

I knew it deleted set recordings when you do a full re-boot, but its never deleted them before just by scanning for extra channels, why is this happening?

From the Humax site:
Software Information

System ID
3020.0000

Application Version
PGXTF 1.00.23

Loader Version
A4.09

Update Date
20th May 2010

Release Note

Additional Function and Fixed Problem
  • EPG stored in standby
Network Change Notification (receiver will display details of future transmitter retune
details and prompt user to retune)
  • Automatic search will carry out a complete rescan of channels
    (removing existing channels and schedules)
Logical, when you think about it. If channels have changed, schedules might well be incorrect.

Teach me not to read everything !!!

Dont necessarily agree its logical though, A) it never did it before, B) with the series link why cant it find them if they have moved, and quite childishly C) I dont like it as it will stop me doing a rescan for new channels as often as I used to..

And if the rest of the update was to inform me of future re-tunes why did it not tell me that 'Dave Ja Vu' had moved (the channel told me not the Humax) and why did it not tell me BT1 and BT2 were now out there ??

Maybe it knew they are encrypted channels available to BT Vision subscribers only.

I have to agree that is is a bit of a PITA to have to re do all my favourites and schedules after every re-scan not to mention deleting all the shopping channels etc.

I had the same problem as Anthony - did the update then couple of days later did a rescan - schedule disappeared! But then it got a lot worse - I set some new recordings and after a few minutes went to see if they had recorded OK - they appeared on the recorded programs list, but everything else had gone.

PANIC!!!!!

Checked how full the disk was - 85% - normal
Looked at program list again - just the two recordings
Try to view program - blank screen and when I told it to stop it did not return to live TV
Power cycle - same as before - only two programs, neither of which would play
Powered down and tried the USB connector - HummyReadFiles could only see the two programs.

What was I going to do - my wife had lost the last two weeks of Emmerdale, Eastenders and Coronation Street!!!

You guessed it - reformat drive and tell the wife "Nothing I could do Luv, ****** computers" So it wasn't all bad!!!

Everything seems OK now, but very worried that same might happen again, also I live about 10 miles from Anthony - is that a coincidence!!

Hummyreadfiles cannot read a corrupted filesystem, but humaxrw can, and recover corrupted files, and after reformatting the drive, can copy them back though you would probably have to do some renaming.

Also take a look at these FAQ items:
Recovery of lost recordings
and
Using Humaxcheck to Recover a Failing File System

It would be nice if it warned you that you will lose scheduled recordings before doing a rescan like it does when you do a factory reset.
